THIS OUT...
It turns out that an American group, known as the Human Rights Watch, believes that the trial of Saddam Hussein was unfair, and the death penalty was unjustly issued.

Okay, now...
NO F#@KING DUH!!!
How is a genocidal mass murdering tyrant supposed to receive anything resembling a truly fair and impartial trial?! Who would you put on the jury? Hitler, Moussalini, Stalin, and Pol Pot?! For crying out loud, he *bragged* about how he killed those people and how they deserved what they got(before he was captured at least) It wasn't like there was any evidence to the contrary, or any court in the world that wasn't familiar with his obvious guilt.
Just because he had no plausible defense, doesn't mean he shouldn't get the punishment that fits the crime. Should they have found him innocent simply because there was no realistic way he would have been acquitted, just so they can say they weren't biased?!
This group says they're looking out for human rights? What about the rights of the tens of thousands of people he murdered? Who's going to advocate their rights? Their right to have justice carried out on their behalf. The right of all the people that escaped his grasp to know they no longer need to live in fear. The right of the world at large to make a statement that shows murderous dictators they need to watch their step.
Everyone in the world knows that the verdict of the trial was decided before they even caught Hussein. So what? Just because he manged to insure that there was no such thing as a court that would be impartial in his own country, it doesn't mean that his *rights were violated*. Here's how *fair* justice works. If you kill a bunch of people, and video tape it, and advertise it, and don't try to hide it, and publicize it, and then get put on trial for it: You get the death penalty. The only reason they even bothered with a trial was because it proves the new government is much more legitimate than the old one. It's not like Hussein ever put any of the Shia's or Kurds on trial...
At least Iraq takes their death penalty sentences seriously. Unlike in the US, where some people spend decades on Death Row, Iraq has a mandatory 30 day time limit. In less than a month from the day you're sentenced, you're doing the hangman's jig. Now THAT'S a swift legal system...
